Letting go and giving up are NOT the same things. Letting go is a transition from within the transition season (let that sink in before you read the rest) You don’t usually FEEL like letting go. Letting go is a hard thing to do, it’s easier said than done. It could be physical, but mostly its a psychological thing. Letting go may seem disappointing, but an opportunity awaits in the next season. Letting go is challenging and therefore taking on a challenge when you do face it. This is fueled by motivation.
Giving up is just giving up. Giving up is something you usually FEEL at first, then you let your emotions control you into making that decision (I feel like giving up, so I’m gonna give up) Giving up means not finishing the race, it means not completing what you signed up for, it means letting others down, it means not just being a disappointment to others but even to yourself. Giving up is much easier to do. Giving up means backing out of a challenge. This is fueled by fear.
Letting go is climbing a tough mountain while giving up is just circling the mountain on ground level and moving onto another mountain and continuing to circle it. In life, you will come across seasons. And the season in between those seasons are called transitions, and whilst you’re in those transitions, you will have 2 choices. Either let go, move on and present a door to an opportunity OR make your own decision to give up and never face a challenge.
I believe this is one of those transitional times of year when it’s good to let go of what we no longer need. But you’re right Lester, life is full of seasons when we can decide to give up or let go 🙂
